We are about to commission an underground water mapping survey on the school's 750 hectares of agricultural land.
For this survey, we need to raise £5,200.
This hydrology survey will tell us where there are underground reserves of water, how much water is there and how deep. This information is vital if the school is going to be able to have a viable agricultural programme to help feed the pupils and staff, market surplus produce and contribute to the long-term sustainability of the school in Chama.
Once the survey has been undertaken by an expert from Lusaka our agricultural consultant will travel up to Chama to walk the land and advise where to site solar-powered boreholes, storage ponds and where best to grow trees, graze cattle and fence off land for growing much needed crops.
This is an incredibly worthwhile cause.
If the school has enough water to grow enough food to feed itself, and teach the pupils how to grow and harvest food, then this will truly help the girls in Chama to build a bright future.
These funds will pay for the survey, the expert's time, transport from Lusaka to the school and accommodation.
